Peace silk is an ethical and sustainable way to produce silk. Unlike conventional silk manufacturing, which involves boiling the cocoon with the silkworm still inside, peace silk manufacturing allows the silkworm to either re-enter the cocoon or to emerge from it, and when they do, the silk is harvested from the cocoon. We source peace silk made by farmers in Assam, India, who weave these fabrics on their own spinning wheels with environmentally friendly materials. Unlike most other types of silk that require heavy chemical processing, all our fabrics are earth-friendly and hand-processed.
